Odgers & McClelland Exchange StoresOdgers & McClelland Exchange Stores is an historic general merchants located in the oldest commercial building in the picturesque old gold mining town of Nundle, NSW. The store began trading in the early 1890's selling everything necessary for the surrounding farming community and acting as an exchange for gold and produce.
Rough built during the 1890's depression the weather board and iron structure and internal fittings remain largely unchanged (including gas lights, packing case shelves/lining and employee graffiti). After closing for 20 years, Odgers & McClelland was reopened in 1999 so that visitors can once more enjoy the quiet pleasures of shopping in a rural pre-war general merchants.
We once again stock good quality traditional mercantile items of every description including millet brooms, various buckets and tubs, enamelware, kitchenware, fancy groceries, loose teas served from the chest, soap slabs, old time shaving requisites, wickerware in hard to find shapes, as well as a whole host of other items both useful and beautiful. A visit to this uniquely preserved, working store is a must for any visitor to Nundle and the New England & North West region of NSW.
